Today I cover how to get cows so we can harvest some leather, reveal the food item that I'll be using as a power source, and put together a better mob farm Get FTB here: http://www.feed-the-beast.com/ Music used with permission: Carefree - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) =============================== Leave a LIKE for Infinity Evolved! For your buildings what chisel blocks are you using?
FunshineX (2 years ago)
They're actually called Edge and Corner blocks, not even chiseled. Part of extra utilities and made with smooth stone and stone bricks

To keep spiders from spawning place half slabs in a checker board pattern on the spawning pads. You can get string from trees.

Greg would be proud of those recipes :P I remember the days of that nuclear power mod from the Universal Electricity group (Atomic Science). The things it had were just insanely cool (modular fusion reactor, particle accellerators, crazy models, etc). Good times. :P

yes wtb more multiblock machines that spawn multiple chunks!

The 'entry level' AE (esq) system in this pack is logistics pipes.. Tho realistically, it can do pretty much everything AE does. It's just bigger and slower... It also has liquid and power (RF and EU) transport through the same pipes as items, so it's a one stop routed transport system.
Tossican Itoku (2 years ago)
It has indeed! .. And I understand why most people (myself included) gravitate to AE.. But a full scale LP network running a massive base is a site to behold! ... And to be honest, there's still a couple lessons AE could learn from LP (like satellite pipes, bee pipes, and the fluid transport system).. It's a pity there aren't LP alternatives to things like Thaumic Energistics.

I've gotten used to AE, but I still remember the old logistics pipes - so much has been added since I used them though

Another method to destroy mobs is to smelt them. Endermen give res ender, which can be turned back into pearls with a pan cast. Also, the vanilla ender chest recipe is hidden, but works for recipes that require enderchests.

Yeah. I commented on the last video on how I feel about water wheels. For Early game it's op, too easy to make high rf and no maintenance. So why bother with other power? Nerf the water wheels power!! Oh. And doing good as always keep it up. Also. No. No you didn't finish obscurity. I was waiting for more but I guess the quests were repetitive and just large production and boring. I was actually hoping you would escape and go to the overworld. But I guess then it would just be like a play through. So I guess that's why you stopped. And thanks for the shootouts. Good to see you are taking some of our suggestions. For direction. If you can resist the temptation to use water wheels. Do something else with power that is just over the top ridicules. Who knows. Be creative do something no one else has done. Leomist out.

Thanks for all of the comments! I think I lost interest in FTB after episode 26 - you can see JttC also died off about that time. I'm bad at finishing packs :(

For the mob trap, Suffocation via sticky piston XD

+FunshineX While smelteries _cannot_ smelt enderpearls -> resonant ender without liquid pyrotheum *they can* smelt endermen -> resonant ender, enabling early enderium.
FunshineX (2 years ago)
enderium would be awesome to have this early

A whole room of survivalist's generators would be comically excessive, I'll concede, but it seems like your water wheels have made them obsolete. For your mob farm, do you have the capability to suspend lava fairly high up in the drop, without too terribly lighting up the dark room? If so, why not do that? Doing it that way, they should take ~90% of the fall damage they would without it, plus they'll have a few ticks of fire damage, without risking loss of drops. Should cut down on the cluttering at the collection point, I think. Just something to think about.
IceDragon978 (2 years ago)
+FunshineX Those are of course the more convenient, safe, and logical option. IIRC, they inflict poison damage in addition to flat damage so it's pretty much the same as lava, without any risk of burning up your drops or your base.
FunshineX (2 years ago)
lava would be a decent option, but I'm planning on going with punji sticks for now

Putting down some cacti might work if the items are getting picked up fast enough

I saw PurpleMentat use a mob farm that fed into a smeltery to kill mobs, and I'm pretty sure he still got their mob drops from it. Also, speaking of them, if you want to automate your smeltery even further, place a pipe like you have feeding the lava into them to connect the drain and the basin. That way they'll continue to pump out anything inside of them into it if they have anything, and you won't have to go click to start them every time. Once you get some hoppers feeding into chests, all you have to worry about is filling and emptying the end products. As for energy generation, maybe look into steam boilers with firewater (which takes some time to get into iirc), because they become pretty good when you can make turbines. And for the ore plants, you need to actually be able to create the actual ore block itself via compression for them to even be able to produce. Example - The red stone plant needs a redstone ore block underneath the dirt block for every seed of it you plant. So a 3x3 will need a 3x3 area of redstone/farmland layers.

I'll be getting into TE soon so that will let me create the ores and then the plants

I don't remember if the recipe has been changed, but Punji-Sticks are usually made out of sugar cane which would make for at least something to finish off the spiders & endermen. :-)
FunshineX (2 years ago)
yep good plan
Unknownbrute (2 years ago)
the two ways i use to kill mobs early game is 1. good old punji sticks 2. make a 1 high smeltery at the bottom! it will kill all mobs and give you ender pearls through the node and endirium in the smeltery that you can turn in to resernant ender!! excuse my poor spelling : )

good tips thanks
