How do you link a monitor to the network so it actually works?
Brett Urich (1 year ago)
can you send a command wirelessly, like can a computer send a message that causes the one it sent to, to begin a command?????
FunshineX (1 year ago)
The other computer would have to have a program listening on it that would receive the command and launch a second program. So doable, but not easy

The True Upgrade (2 years ago)
+Ender Invader i don't think there is an exact way but maybe the turtle could look out for a certain command and then do the action
Ender Invader (2 years ago)
+FunshineX I want to make all the computers reboot at the same time
Zack Ferguson (2 years ago)
is there a way to link a computer to a pocket computer?
Metal Crotch Guy (2 years ago)
Ah, if computers were this easy in real life. Only one modem, only one graphics card, only one lib required.
Mahjarat (2 years ago)
Hey man. I know i'm really really really late, but could you help me out with a question? How do I modify an existing code to use the wireless modem as a peripheral to do wireless monitors?  Using this code: http://pastebin.com/p4zeq7Ma

senderChannel and replyChannel is useful for building network range extenders.

Linrox (3 years ago)
Love it good work. Where did you get you info on the new commands? can you do a tutorial on Turtles and the Inventory sorter from MiscPeripherals, I know its now EOL but would still be nice for those on 1.6..x

Please show how to set up a farming turtle
AvesGames (3 years ago)
I know this isn't the place to ask this question, but I don't know where else to ask it. Is there a way to copy a program you wrote in a turtle to a floppy disk and vice versa? I can't figure it out.

Tyler Toole (3 years ago)
Will you put out an episode dealing with the turtle bots? I know its silly but one thing I've been having trouble with is figuring out how to automate them. After all, it doesn't seem that they are controlled by lua -Otherwise I should be able to find programs like 'go' and 'forward' in the rom drive somewhere and modify them correct?
Kamakazie Pidgeon (2 years ago)
Search up the turtle api, here's a few useful commands: turtle.dig() - For mining turtles turtle.refuel() - Fuels the turtle, needs a fuel source in the highlighted spot in its inventory turtle.forward() turtle.turnRight() turtle.turnLeft()

Are you able to just skip making a channel and just open the modem?
iTech (3 years ago)
If the modem is wireless then u just do rednet.open(string_side) without wrapping if it is wired, then u have to wrap the modem then open it.
FunshineX (3 years ago)
I believe a channel is required in version 1.6 and above
Strike Eagle (3 years ago)
AWSOM helped so much
PatrickAllenNL (3 years ago)
I think that wireless modem does not have enough channels :D (lol) I am totally new to minecraft and computercraft but this computerstuff does make me very interested.
Sbeagin1 (3 years ago)
Then why are you here...?
Weashoo (3 years ago)
Also, is there a way to use the wired modem like resent wireless modems? I can't reply on my previous comment for whatever reason
Weashoo (3 years ago)
Could you have not made that screen do every color except black? Because that really got my OCD running. Or is this an un-fixable bug? No offense intended
MrOpitimus (3 years ago)
help when i try to send it give me attempt to call nil modem.transmit(0,1,"Sending out an SOS!")
Professor Duck (3 years ago)
You either defined the modem wrong or didn't define it at all.
ahmet emin koçal (3 years ago)

More! Your videos have taught me everything!
SlemTurnThePowerOn (3 years ago)
Can you show us how to do so when a computer recives a message it runs a program? Plz
Professor Duck (3 years ago)
Two ways*
Professor Duck (3 years ago)
Easy... Two was: 1. Run a program saved to a file when a message is received or phrase is said, Or, 2. Make a function, which is the program, which is called when a message is received or phrase is said.
Francisco Renteria (3 years ago)
is it possible to wirelesslly control a computer (via a 2nd of course) and run a program that is on the controlled computer, but interact with that program as if you were standing at the computer that is controlled.  In other words, the controlled computer somehow broadcasts its screen to the controller computer.

+Spartan “Taco” Duckie how
Professor Duck (3 years ago)
Yeah. The correct term would be "ssh" most likely, as far as normal real-life examples go... But yes, you can control other computers through another one linked wirelessly (or wired), whether it be handheld or normal.
11Willio22 (3 years ago)
Your videos have helped me a lot in Computercraft, but please make more of these vids please! :)
Spy (3 years ago)
I've been trying to use the wired modem with the monitor so me and some friends can host in game LAN parties and movie nights, but for some reason it's just not working could you maybe go back and make some advanced tutorials rather than basic
NotPickyButStrict (3 years ago)

Thiago TGM (4 years ago)
Nice, you did this right when I wanted to know more about Protocols for a future project (stop reading my mind!) :P Btw, you don't need to right-click the wired modem on the computer, that is only to give an peripheral ID to the block
FunshineX (4 years ago)
Ah ok thanks about the wired modems.  I also just happened to stumble upon protocols as I did the video - had no clue they were even there when I started filming lol
