Mikey Sheep (2 days ago)
untill 1.13 biome gen is the same as the sixth
Expeditions With Matt (18 days ago)
I actually miss the giant oceans. In current versions of minecraft, they really just feel like giant lakes instead of an actual ocean. That being said, the "so many jungles" joke was a serious throwback. Now jungles are actually hard to find, as they should be.
will my 1.12 seed break in 1.13?
BurgerMations (21 days ago)
how many seeds does minecraft have?
yoloSGman (24 days ago)
The caves from 1.0-1.6 were btw the same, just the biomes changed

Hey i found a lot of pink sheep at the "ocean" seed ! Check (1.12.2)
Real .R8a56 (1 month ago)
Well I know about this seed which didn't change a lot (from 1.5.2 to1.11.2) it needs to be in a super flat world and the seed is near a village (pretty obvious what it does)
Stealthwolf (1 month ago)
The 2nd type of world generation was the best
Lance Cunanan (1 month ago)

I created a Minecraft world in 1.0.0,and I opened it in Minecraft release 1.8,It looks the same.but the biomes changed.Savana's generation is the plains and extreme hills generation, the swamp turned into plains. But nothing's changed.Just the colors.Weird.

I still have my 2010 world and there are cliffs everywhere. T_T The whole world around my spawn is a mess, even as close as 500 blocks out, you can see patches of sand mixing with patches of plains in a checkerboard pattern. Also I had two saves one that was from 2010 and one from 2011 that I played in longer. I wish I could have kept the 2011 save but something weird happened to my world where ice came in an took over the entire land and it eventually got stuck on this "generating terrains" loading screen and it was lost forever. but I still have the older one and it looks just like that with all the high rise cliffs.
ChesterTheMemeMaster (3 months ago)
The world generation for 1.2-1.6 was bad in that not only did it have infinite oceans, but I've literally found snow biomes that go on for 5000+ blocks in any direction.
ImTouchk (3 months ago)
Now the world generation changed again. Well done microsoft!
Valarie Kendall (3 months ago)
And then 1.13 made this outdated
wigglebot23 (2 months ago)
Valarie Kendall no. At least not yet. While it has been recoded world generation for the most part is the same. However they may add new biomes soon.
DwightTerreOfficial (3 months ago)
Update the list when 1.13 comes out. :P

One time, I was playing Minecraft Pocket Edition single player on my phone. I was playing on a limited (old) world, and I converted it to infinite in the settings, and loading up the world. There were cliffs at the previous edge of the world. I know this is different than what you're talking about, but still I just wanted to point out this funny story!

I always assumed it was because new blocks were being added as well as new entities and structures, such as evokers, woodland mansions and strongholds, aswell as the End.
Zachary J Hott-Salman (5 months ago)
I think that the current default terrain generation could still use some work with the mountains, at least some more variations. Most of the mountains don't take advantage of the higher build height and often don't even come close, and the mountains that are really tall are usually oddly-shaped and hanging over, at least on one side, and they are way too small horizontally. They're basically just too predictable. I'm still not amazed by or impressed with default mountains the way I was during Beta.

I think the biomes did most of the impact in 1.7 onwards for world spawn types.
CuteC3 (5 months ago)
I kinda liked the infinite oceans because i could travel for days until I came upon new land, and it actually felt like a discovery, it's like actual continents of the real wold.

So when I’m looking for a PS4 mushroom 🍄 island 🌴shall I put in newest?????
Marx Soul (5 months ago)
That one tall birch tree on the floating dirt block is just gold.
Mossy the protogen (5 months ago)
No matter what version it is, if you type lost as the seed, you will always spawn near a mushroom biome (Some people might already know this though)
Konrad Johnson (5 months ago)
Honestly I'd prefer Minecraft with a higher ocean to land ratio. When you look out over the ocean, and are able to immediately see the next land mass, which is actually connected to your land mass, it doesn't feel as good with exploration, compared to say, sailing for a while, and discovering a whole new continent with its own secrets and biomes. I'm not saying that we should revert back to 1.6, because that seed system was definitely broken. But if a leg's broken, you don't cut it off. You fix it. Now, Minecraft maps, if zoomed out, look like large swamps. No big oceans. Small lakes, separated by land. All land is connected.
I got alpha version 1.0 Minecraft

1:03 maybe, the start files have some codes that are no longer in Windows 10. Microsoft has removed the back compability for Windows 10 in order to make the whole thing faster
Tan Junwei (5 months ago)
I wana ask. What if i have a map with snow all around me and what if suddenly they make the seed dont exist anymore. So it means we cant go in to the world?
I joined Mc 2012 or 2014 or 2015 but I’m pretty sure it was 2014

If we could get the Type 2 height-maps/ terrain generations with the modern biomes, plants, blocks and structures, that would be awesome.

ezekiel vl (6 months ago)
5:51 - 5:56 how did that tree appear on a single floating block? XD
Naud van Dalen (6 months ago)
Mojang could have easily prevented world generation from breaking between versions. They could just store the version or world generation number the world was created in and keep generating terrain using that old algorithm. A world generation algorithm probably doesn't even use that many kilobytes of code, so they might as well store all world generation algorithms there ever were.

I remember when 1.7 came out, it really did change the world!!!!
zachary5149 (8 months ago)
Videos like these remind me of how lucky I am. I started a world in 1.11 and hesitated to update to 1.12. Once I learned that there were no major biome changes or corruption to my current world, I switched over. I even found parrots in unloaded jungle chunks. WINNING!
Jasper Turck (8 months ago)
Too long didn't watch; Because the generation method is different between versions
